Weight Loss with Sweat Suits
FACT or FICTION?
The concept of quick weight loss by using a sweat suit while exercising has been around for many years and still exsists strongly today in the world of Boxing and Mixed Martial arts.
Fighters have used this method to “Cut Weight” quickly before a weigh in prior to a fight.
This method is without a doubt controversial and the quick weight loss results seen are almost entirely through dehydration due to rapid excessive sweating due to the rapid increase in body temperature.
BUT IS THAT ALL IT IS OR IS THERE MORE?
Well there really isn’t much independent scientific research in to the effects of using sauna suits or sweat suits to lose body fat, but what little there is out there seems to suggest something very interesting. Research indicates that due to the rise in body temperature and the excessive sweating that individuals could be burning up to twice as many calories in exactly the same work out than without the suit. Research also indicates that this is still the most effective way of De-toxin the body despite a huge range of products on the market.
HOW?
The body has a very clever built in cooling system and will work very hard to maintain the fine balance of core temperature, if the surface temperature of the body rises we start to sweat to cool the skin down, for this system to operate the body burns up calories trying to produce more sweat and cool itself down. So it would appear that there is a longer term benefit to effective fat loss using sauna or sweat suits than just the short term fluid loss that is replaced once fluid is consumed.
WARNING.
Using Sauna or Sweat suits during any form of exercise is very dangerous and should never be undertaken without professional advice and guidance, it causes dangerous levels of Dehydration and can ultimately lead to collapse or long term health problems if abused or used incorrectly.
