The power of pairs!

Over the next few weeks we will share our progress and pain with you as we partner up to prepare for Logan's challenge, a fundraising event for Sparks charity.

Having never competed in a Pentathlon before, or any other competitive sporting event, Chris at Trojan Training will be putting us through our paces as we prepare ourselves for the challenge ahead.

Week 1

Brooke says:

Wow - today I officially went to a gym for the first time with a goal in mind. It was a surprisingly pleasant experience. Having to prepare for our team pentathlon on October 10 coupled with a long term goal to improve my fitness, loose weight and get toned is how I landed in the gym with Chris as my guide and Kate (a fellow pentathlon team member) as my partner in fitness.

The session was a basic mix of cardio and weights and it flew by. Who knew training for an hour would go by so quickly and leave you wanting more? Having never done any weights before I already feel like I am achieving lots and with both Kate and Chris there to challenge me to continue ‘training' between sessions I think I'm off to a good start. This week we've been tasked with incorporating two cardio sessions into our weekly fitness programs between session and watching what we eat - the latter possibly the hardest part!

Kate says:

Since training with Brooke and Chris last week I've been so much more motivated to get out and exercise in between session as I don't want to be the one letting the side down on the day! This Sunday I actually managed an 18 mile cycle ride to Windsor although I did stop for a pub lunch half way through so not sure if that strictly counts. I've also tried to incorporate at least two cardio sessions into my weekly training even if this is just a 30 minute run before work and I'm already feeling the benefits of this in terms of my energy levels. Although I have tried to take on board Chris dietary advice this is definitely the hardest area to crack particularly as you try and justify little treats as you are exercising more. So far so good I would definitely recommend partners training as a great way of exercising and maintaining motivation but watch this space...
